How it works

Gold value calculation formula

The calculator first adjusts the 24K rate for your selected purity and then multiplies that per-gram rate by the gold weight.

Formula

Gold value = weight × (purity ÷ 24) × 24K rate per gram

Worked example

Example: 10 grams of 22K gold

Assume the 24K gold rate is ₹12,000 per gram. For 22K gold, the purity factor is 22 ÷ 24, or about 0.9167.

22K rate

₹11,000/g

Weight

10 g

Gold value

₹1,10,000

₹12,000 × (22 ÷ 24) = ₹11,000 per gram. ₹11,000 × 10 grams = ₹1,10,000.

Common questions

Gold Value Calculator FAQ

How is gold value calculated?

Gold value is estimated by multiplying the gold weight by the purity-adjusted price per gram. Gold Ledger derives the purity-adjusted rate from the entered 24K rate.

How do I calculate the value of 22K gold?

For 22K gold, the calculator applies a purity factor of 22 divided by 24 to the 24K rate, then multiplies that adjusted rate by the gold weight.

Can I enter my own gold rate?

Yes. Today's 24K reference rate is pre-filled, but you can replace it with another 24K per-gram rate, such as a local market or jeweller reference rate.

Does the calculator include making charges and GST?

No. The result estimates the underlying gold value only. Making charges, GST, stones, wastage, retailer premiums and other purchase costs are not included.

Is calculated gold value the same as resale value?

Not necessarily. Actual resale or exchange value can be lower because a buyer may apply purity testing, stone deductions, melting deductions, margins or other charges.
